determine there shall be donated to the County Commissioners
of said County the sum of Four Thousand Dollars ($4, 000)
to be applied by them, in addition to the sum of Fifteen Thou-
sand Dollars ($15, 000) herein provided, for the said building
and improving the aforesaid road; otherwise, this Act to be
null and void.

CHAPTER 298.
AN ACT to repeal Chapter 327 of the Acts of 1908; title "An
Act regulating the salary for the State's Attorney, for
Howard County, " and to re-enact the same with amend-
ments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the State's Attorney for Howard County shall re-
ceive an annual salary of Twelve Hundred Dollars ($1, 200),
for the performance of the official duties of the said office, which
now are or may be required by law, said salary to be in lieu
of all salary, appearance and trial, and all other compensations
for same, and to be payable semi-annually, on the first day of
January and first day of July by the County Treasurer, upon
the order of the County Commissioners, and said duty shall
also include his services before the Justice of the Peace of said
County, criminal cases, in preliminary hearings or trials, when,
in, the public interests, he attends on his own motion, or at the
request of any of the said Justices, and shall include all advice
regarding criminal law and procedure that he shall give any
Justice of the said County; provided, however, that his actual
expenses incurred in following and trying criminal cases, re-
moved from the said County shall be paid in addition to his
salary and that all general or local laws inconsistent with the
provisions of this Act be and the same are hereby repealed.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the
Sheriff to collect and pay over to the County Commissioners
