tively of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland for
1914; and to add a new section to said Article 100 to come
in after section 22 and to be known as Section 22A of said
Article 100; said sections so enacted providing regulations
for the employment of minors limiting the hours of labor
for children under sixteen years of age, and providing for
the enforcement of said regulations.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That sections 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16,
23, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31, 37, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43 and 46 of Article
100 of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title
"Work, Hours of, in Factories, " sub-title "Employment of
Minors, " as enacted by Chapter 731 of the Acts of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland for 1912, and sections 26 and 48
of said Article 100 as amended by Chapters 27 and 840
respectively of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland
for 1914, be and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted
with amendments so as to read as follows:
Section 4. No child under fourteen years of age shall be
employed, permitted or suffered to work in, about, or in con-
nection with any mill, factory, workshop, mechanical estab-
lishment, tenement house, manufactory or workshop, office
building, restaurant, bakery, barber shop, hotel, apartment
house, bootblack stand or establishment, public stable, garage,
laundry, or as a driver or in any brick or lumber yard, or in
the construction or repair of buildings, or as a messenger for
telegraph, telephone or messenger companies, or in any mer-
cantile establishment, store, office, boarding house, place of
amusement, club or in the distribution, transmission or sale of
merchandise.
Section 5. No child under twelve years of age shall be em-
ployed, permitted, or suffered to work in, about or in connec-
tion with any canning or packing establishment.
Section 7. No child under the age of sixteen years shall be
employed, permitted, or suffered to work at any of the follow-
ing occupations, or in any of the following positions: Adjust-
ing any belt to any machinery; sewing or lacing machine belts
in any workshop or factory; oiling, wiping or cleaning ma-
chinery or assisting therein; operating or assisting in oper-
ating any of the following machines: Circular or band saw,
crosscut saws, slashers, or other cutting machines; wood shap-
