Mayor.

Section 5. And be it further enacted, That the Mayor of
said town shall be a legal voter of said town at the time of his
election, a resident in said town for at least two years next
preceding the date of his election, and the owner of real estate
in said town in his own name to the assessed value of at
least Five Hundred Dollars at the time of his election. The
Mayor shall hold office for two years and until the qualifica-
tion of his successor; but in case he shall permanently remove
his residence from said town, or shall cease to own real estate
to the assessed value of Five Hundred Dollars, he shall imme-
diately cease to be Mayor, and there shall exist a vacancy in
said office to be filled as hereinafter provided. The Mayor
shall not during his term of office either hold or be pecuniarily
interested in any other office under the Mayor and Common
Council of Mount Rainier, nor shall he be a party directly
or indirectly in any contract to which said corporation is a
party; the acceptance of, or the continuance to hold such an
office, or the making or becoming interested in such contract
shall immediately disqualify any Mayor and there shall there-
upon exist a vacancy in the office of Mayor to be filled as here-
inafter provided. The Mayor shall receive no salary.

Councilmen.

Section 6. And be it further enacted, That the Councilmen
of said town shall possess the same qualifications as the Mayor,
and shall become disqualified in the same manner as does the
Mayor. Each of said Councilmen in addition to such qualifi-
cations shall reside at the date of his election in the ward
which he is elected to represent, as hereinafter set forth, and
in case he shall remove during his term of office from the ward
for which he is elected, his term shall at once terminate and
there shall exist a vacancy in the office of councilmen of such
ward to be filled as hereinafter provided. The Councilmen
shall hold office for two years and until the qualifications of
their successors. The Councilmen shall receive no salary.

Town Clerk and Treasurer.

Section 7. And be it further enacted, That there shall be
appointed by a majority vote of the Mayor and Common
Council at their first regular meeting on the second Monday in
May in each and every year a legal voter of said town who
shall serve as Town Clerk and Treasurer. He shall attend all
