by Chapter 359 of the Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland, passed at the January session in the year 1908,
relating to the powers and jurisdiction of Justices of the
Peace in Election District No. 2 of said Frederick County,
and disposing of the fines and penalties collected by them,
not otherwise disposed of by law.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 289A and 289B of Article 11 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Frederick
County, " sub-title "Justices of the Peace and Constables, " as
the same were enacted by Chapter 359 of the Acts of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland, passed at its January session held
in the year 1908, be and the same are hereby repealed and re-
enacted with amendments, so as to read as follows:
Section 289A. The three justices of the peace for Election
District No. 2, provided for in the preceding section, shall
each be paid by the County Commissioners of said County, in
equal quarterly instalments, the sum of three hundred dollars
per annum, and shall receive no other or further fees for any
services rendered by them in criminal cases or arrests for the
violations of any of the laws of the State of Maryland, and
said justice shall issue, upon application therefor and sworn
information, warrants for the arrest of persons charged with
violating any provisions of the laws of Maryland, and shall
account for and pay over to the Clerk of the Circuit Court all
fines and penalties, collected by them, respectively, and not
otherwise disposed of by law, one-half thereof to be paid by
him to the County Commissioners of said County, and the
other half thereof to be expended under the direction of the
judges of said Court for the augmentation of the law library of
said Court,
Section 289B. The several justices of the peace for Elec-
tion District Number Two of Frederick County in addition
to the jurisdiction which they now possess, and which may be
conferred on them by or under the laws of this State, are
hereby invested with and shall have, hereafter, jurisdiction to
hear, try and determine all cases involving the charge of any
offense, crime or misdemeanor, not punishable by confinement
in the penitentiary or involving a felonious intent, which may
be committed in Frederick County; and shall have jurisdiction
to hear, try and determine all prosecutions or proceedings for
the recovery of any penalty for doing or omitting to do any
