250 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 152

CHAPTER 152.

AN ACT to amend the Charter of the Baltimore Eastern Dis-
pensary.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That John F. Hancock, Philip G. Triede, John C. Distler, Jr.,
Mark Wells, Marion K. Burch, Wm. S. Hugg, J. Henry Cook,
Walter E. Brady, Frank C. Bressler, Wm. E. Wagner, Geo. W.
Habbersett and Daniel W. Cathell, and their successors who may
from time to time be elected as member of said Board, shall, and
may at all times hereafter, be able and capable in law, as Presi-
dent and Directors of The Baltimore Eastern Dispensary, to pur-
chase, take, have and enjoy, to them and to their successors, in
fee, or less estates, any land, tenements, rents, annuities, chattels,
voluntary subscriptions, contributions, donations of money,
registered debts, or public securities, to any amount; by gift,
bargain, sale, or demise of any person or persons, body politic,
or corporation, capable in law to make the same; and also to
alien, sell, transfer or lease, anything belonging to the Dispen-
sary, in such manner as they may judge to be most conducive
to the benefit of said Dispensary; and in law, to sue and be
sued, plead and be impleaded, answer and be answered unto,
defend and be defended in all, or any Court of Justice, and
before any and all judges, officers and persons whatsoever. And
that it shall be lawful for them to have and keep a Common
Seal, for their use, and the same at the will of them and their
successors, to change, alter and make, from time to time, as
they may deem best, and shall in general do all things, and
have and exercise all rights, franchises, privileges and immuni-
ties, as by Law are incident to such corporations, or may be
necessary to the corporation herein named, to enable it fully
to execute all things concerning the design and intent of said
corporation; and also to make such By-Laws, as they find
necessary for the government of said Dispensary and its em-
ployees, and to change them, from time to time; provided the
same be not contrary to the Laws of the State of Maryland, or
of the United States.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said Dispensary shall be
governed by a Board of twelve Directors, to be elected annually
on the First Monday in May. The Board of Directors then
elected shall serve for the ensuing year, and shall meet on the
Monday following their election and organize by electing from
among their own number a President, a Vice-President, a Treas-
