CHAPTER 712.
AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of Wicomico
County, State of Maryland, to issue bonds for the purpose
of making additions and improvements to the public school
buildings and equipments thereof in Wicomico County; and
for the payment of the cost of the two lift bridges on the
south, prong of the Wicomico River in Salisbury, at South
Division and Camden Street; and to the building of suitable
bridges over the north prong of the Wicomico River in
Salisbury, Maryland, and at Wetipquin Creek in Tyaskin
District in Wicomico County, aforesaid; and for the build
ing of State-aided roads in said County; and
WHEREAS, The very large increase in the number of pupils
attending the public schools and the necessity of repairs to the
public school buildings and the equipping of same and the
public necessity for more school accommodation has become
absolutely necessary; and
WHEREAS, There is a balance due on the lift bridges across
the South Branch of the Wicomico River in Salisbury at South
Division Street and Camden Avenue; and a new bridge must
be built over the North Branch of the Wicomico River in
Salisbury in place of the old one; and building a new bridge
is necessary over Wetipquin Creek in said County; and
WHEREAS, The continuous demands for State-aided roads in
Wicomico County cannot be met without a large increase of
the tax levy; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland.
That for the purpose of making additions and improvements to
the public school buildings in Wicomico County, and for the pay-
ment of the cost of the two lift bridges on the South Prong of the
Wicomico River in Salisbury, and the building of a new bridge
over the North Prong of the Wicomico River at Main Street
in Salisbury, and a suitable bridge at Wetipquin Creek in
Wicomico County, aforesaid, and the building of State-aided
roads in said County, the County Commissioners, be, and they
are hereby authorized and directed to issue and sell bonds, said
