AND WHEREAS, A fair estimate for erecting said road, the
same to start at the present State Road at Camp Parole in
Anne Arundel County thence following the line of the Old;
Stage Road by the Annapolis Water Works to Chesterfield, to
the Patuxent River, dividing the two Counties, thence via Bel-
Air, Buena Vista, Lanham's Station to Bladensburg the con-
tinued line of the Old Stage Road where it meets State Road
Number One from Baltimore to Washington, the whole dis-
tance being about twenty miles, would cost about twelve thou-
sand dollars a mile or a total of two hundred and fifty thou-
sand dollars.

AND WHEREAS, It is right and proper that a suitable ap-
propriation should be made by this Legislature for the con-
struction of this road; Therefore,

SECTION 1. And be it enacted, That for the purpose of
constructing said road the State Roads Commission are hereby
requested out of any appropriation of moneys made by the
Acts of this General Assembly for State Roads to use One-
hundred and twenty-five thousand ($125, 000. 00) dollars to
meet a similar amount to be provided by Act of Congress
under the provisions of an Act now pending therein, known
as House Bill No. 11959 and introduced by Mr. Mudd into
that Body February 21st, 1916—to construct said National
Defenses Highway from Capitol to Capitol.

Approved April 18th, 1916.

CHAPTER 707.

AN ACT authorizing the State Roads Commission of Mary-
land to take over and maintain the part of the State Roads
system in Sykesville.

WHEREAS, A section of the State Roads system, eight-tenths
of a mile in length of the State road leading from. West
Friendship to Westminster, lying within the corporate limits
of the town of Sykesville, has been improved and macadamized
by said town under the direction of the State Roads Commis-
sion of Maryland at a cost of $4, 800. 00; and

WHEREAS, It is desirable that the State Roads Commission
of Maryland take over said eight-tenths miles of said road,
and hereafter maintain it as other roads are by it kept up and
maintained.
