of any kind (except models of useful inventions) shall pay to;
the said Clerk the sum of twenty-five dollars for a license,
therefor for one year.
111. Every person or company of stage players, ventrilo-
quists, sleight-of-hand performers, rope dancers, tumblers and
wire dancers, or company of circus riders or equestrian per-
formers, and each or every person or company who shall ex-
hibit any animal or animals, or artificial or natural curiosities
of any kind or sort (except models of useful inventions) in the
City of Baltimore for a reward shall, in addition to the tax
imposed by the Ordinances of said City, pay to the Clerk of
the Court of Common Pleas for a license therefor the following
tax, to wit: For each theatre the sum of two hundred dollars
per annum, issued ratably, or five dollars for each night of per-
formance, for license to exhibit as ventriloquists, sleight-of-
hand performers, rope dancers, tumblers and wire dancers,
twenty dollars for each week; for circus or equestrian per-
formers one hundred dollars for one year; for a license to
exhibit any animal or animals, or artificial or natural curiosities
of any kind, fifty dollars for one year, except in the case of
horse shows and agricultural fairs given by local associations.
DETECTIVE AGENCIES AND AGENTS.
164. Every person, firm or corporation, resident or non-resi-
dent, maintaining a private detective agency in this State shall,
before acting as such, take out a license therefor and pay to the
Clerk of the Circuit Court in the County in which such person,
firm or corporation may be located, or to the Clerk of the Court
of Common Pleas of Baltimore City, if located in Baltimore
City, the sum of one hundred dollars per annum. Provided,
however, this Section shall not apply to detectives regularly
employed by any State, County, or City.
MOVING PICTURE SHOWS AND CARNIVALS.
165. That for the exhibition by any automatic moving pic-
ture machine, phonograph, graphophone, or similar musical ma-
chine, except for benevolent, charitable or educational purposes,
where the price of admission to such exhibition does not exceed
the sum of five cents, the following license fees shall be annu-
ally paid:
Places of amusement having a seating capacity of
less than two hundred........................ each $ 15. 00
Those having a seating capacity of more than two
hundred, and less than three hundred.......... each $ 30. 00
