deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof
shall be subject to a fine of not less than One hundred ($100)
dollars, or imprisonment for a term of not less than six months,
or both fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the Court,
SEC. 10. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of
the preceding sections of this Act shall not become effective
until the same shall be submitted to and approved by the
qualified voters of the town of Mount Rainier at the next
general election for Mayor and Councilmen held in said town,
provided the same shall be held not less than fifteen days, nor
more than thirty days after the passage of this Act.
In case the time for such general election shall be leas than
fifteen days or more than thirty days after the passage of this
Act, the Mayor and Common Council of Mount Rainier are
hereby authorized and directed to call a special election by
publication of a notice thereof in a newspaper published or
circulated in said town at least once before the date fixed
therefor, which date shall be not less than fifteen days nor more
than thirty days after the passage of this Act. Such special
election shall be held as are other elections of the town of
Mount Rainier, and at such election the qualified voters of
the town shall determine whether or not the provisions of the
preceding sections of this Act shall go into effect, and such
provisions shall not go into effect until they are approved by
the qualified voters at such special election.
The manner of submission shall be that on the ballots at
the general election, or at the special election, there shall be
printed the words "For water and sewers" with a blank square
opposite at the right, and the words "Against water and sew-
ers" with a blank square opposite at the right, and all voters
desiring to vote for the provisions of the previous sections of
this Act shall place a cross (X) mark in the square opposite
the words "For water and sewers, " and all voters desiring to
vote against the provisions of the previous sections of this Act
shall put a cross (X) mark opposite the words "Against water
and sewers. "
If at such election a greater number of persons shall vote
"For water and sewers" than shall vote "Against water and
sewers, " then the provisions of the foregoing sections shall im-
mediately go into effect. All the other provisions of the charter
of Mount Rainier in relation to elections are hereby made
applicable to said election as fully and to the same extent as
