ration of the term for which they were respectively elected
and shall receive the salaries fixed by that Act, that is, the
Commissioner elected in 1901 shall hold office until the gen-
eral election in 1907, the Commissioner elected in 1903 shall
hold his office until the general election of 1909, and the Com-
missioner elected in 1905 shall hold his office until the general
election in 1911.

192. And said County Commissioners shall meet at their
office in Bel Air for the transaction of the business of their
office at least one day in each week, but not more than two
days in each week, except from the first Monday in March until
the annual levy is made in each year they shall meet as often
as the public business requires.

193. They shall annually appoint a fit and proper person,
a resident of said county, as their clerk, who, before entering
upon the duties of his office, shall execute a bond to the State
of Maryland, to be approved by them, in the penalty of one
thousand dollars, conditioned for the true and faithful per-
formance of the duties of his office.

194. Said bond shall be recorded in the office of the clerk
of the Circuit Court for said county.

195. He shall receive such annual salary as the County
Commissioners shall direct, not to exceed the sum of $1, 200.

196. All vacancies in the office of Clerk shall be filled by
the County Commissioners.

197. He shall give his personal attendance at and keep
open the office of County Commissioners during business hours
on every weekday excepting legal holidays.

198. He is authorized and empowered to administer an
oath or affirmation to any person presenting a claim to the
commissioners against the county, for which services he shall
be entitled to make the same charge that is allowed to justices
of the peace of the County.

199. The County Commissioners shall levy annually such
sum of money as they may deem sufficient to pay the expenses
which may be annually incurred by the attendance of jurors,
bailiffs, criers and witnesses for the State, and for traversers,
if acquitted, in criminal cases in the Circuit Court; and said
commissioners shall cause said jurors, bailiffs and crier to be
paid at the end of each term of said Court, and said witnesses
upon the termination of the case in said court for which they
were summoned.
