affecting titles to land in Harford County; and the said clerk
shall securely file and index or record the same in his office,
and shall not permit said original papers and proceedings to
be removed from his office except by the judges of said court
in person.
184. In all such causes where the original papers, maps,
plats and proceedings cannot be found, but the same or any
part thereof have been docketed or recorded amongst the rec-
ords of said high court of chancery, said clerk be and he is
hereby empowered and directed to make complete searches and
copies of said dockets and records, and to file the same in his
office. The copies provided for in this section and Section 183
of this Act shall be made by and under the direction of. the
clerk aforesaid, and no charge shall be made by the commis-
sioner of the land office for any searches required to carry out
the provisions of this Act, or for any copies made, unless said
copies are made on the request of the clerk aforesaid.
185. The said clerk be and he is hereby further empowered
and directed to prepare complete indexes of all bonds filed in
his office of trustees or other fiduciaries, and of chattel mort-
gages and bills of sale and of releases of original mortgages and
of marriage licenses therein filed.
186. All expenses incurred by said clerk under the afore-
going sections of this Act shall be paid out of any surplus reve-
nues now in or which may hereafter come into the hands of
said clerk.
187. The Clerk of the Circuit Court for Harford County
shall annually, at the time he files with the Comptroller of the
State his annual account of the fees, emoluments and receipts
of his office, as provided by Section 13 of Article 17 of the
Public General Laws of Maryland, also file with the Comp-
troller, under oath, a report of the surplus revenues of his
office that have come into his hands, whether from a retiring
clerk or from the receipts of the office under his own adminis-
tration, applicable to the payment of the purchases to be made
and work to be done under the provisions of said Act, with an
itemized account of whatever expenditures he has made in car-
rying out the provisions of said Act, accompanied by vouchers
of all payments for which he claims credit, and upon the com-
pletion of the work and other things authorized to be done
under the provisions of said Act the Clerk shall file with the
Comptroller a final report and account, with vouchers, under
oath, and shall pay over to the Treasurer of the State any bal-
