CHAPTER 84.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the municipal corporation,
the Town Commissioners of Centreville, to borrow, upon the
faith and credit of said municipal corporation, the sum of
Eighty-Five Hundred Dollars ($8, 500), or so much thereof
as may be necessary, for the purpose of purchasing an oil
burning engine and electric generator and of installing the
same in the electric light, heat and power plant of said cor-
poration, together with the necessary equipment for operat-
ing said engine and generator including oil storage tank and
pipe line; to execute the promissory notes of said municipal
corporation for the amount so borrowed, and, for a period
not exceeding four years from June 1, 1916, to renew said
notes as they mature from time to time; to apply the money
collected by said corporation from the consumers for electric
service furnished by said plant, first to the payment of the
expenses of running, maintaining and repairing said plant
and then to the payment of the said promissory notes and of
the renewals thereof, and the interest to accrue thereon;
and, at the time of the annual levy of taxes in the year
1920, to levy taxes, if necessary, on the assessable property
in the town of Centreville, Maryland, to pay any of said
notes which may then be unpaid; and to sell one of the
steam units now used in said plant and apply the proceeds
of such sale toward the payment of the cost of said oil burn-
ing engine and electric generator; and declaring that the
said indebtedness, represented by said promissory notes, shall
be deemed to be a part of the cost and expense of repairing,
extending and enlarging said plant, mentioned in Section 8
of Chapter 29 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Mary-
land of 1912.

WHEREAS, Under the provisions of Chapter 29 of the Acts
of the General Assembly of Maryland, passed at its January
Session, 1912, the municipal corporation, the Town Commis-
sioners of Centreville, did construct and erect the electric light,
heat and power plant described in said Chapter 29 of the Acts
of 1912, and is now maintaining and operating said plant for
the purposes set forth in said Act;

AND WHEREAS, In order to meet the requirements of de-
mands for electric service and to more efficiently and econ-
omically run and maintain said plant, it has become necessary
for the said municipal corporation, the Town Commissioners
of Centreville, to purchase and install in said plant an oil burn-
