WHEREAS, The said Foster Sudler became bail for one
Howard Hodges conditioned for his appearance to the May
Term 1910, of the Circuit Court for Queen Anne's County,
Maryland, to answer the charge of selling liquor, to wit;
Whiskey; and
WHEREAS, The said Howard Hodges failed to appear at
said session of Court and the bail was forfeited, and paid by
the said Foster Sudler to the Sheriff of Queen Anne's County,
and by said Sheriff the sum of Fifty Dollars was paid into
the Treasury of the State of Maryland, on account of money
received by the said Sheriff for said forfeiture of bail; and
WHEREAS, The said Howard Hodges was afterward appre-
hended and placed in the custody of the Sheriff of Queen
Anne's County upon the same charge for which said bail was
forfeited but died in the custody of the Sheriff of Queen
Anne's County, before he could be brought to trial on said
charge before the Circuit Court for Queen Anne's County;
and
WHEREAS, The State having been satisfied by the aforesaid
apprehension, it is fair and equitable that the aforesaid sum
of money should be refunded to the said Foster Sudler.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Comptroller of the Treasury of the State of
Maryland be and he is hereby directed and required to issue
his warrant upon the Treasurer of the State of Maryland to
pay Foster Sudler the sum of Fifty Dollars, being the amount
paid by said Foster Sudler for and on the account of the for-
feiture of the bail of the said Howard Hodges, and by the
proper County Authority paid to the State of Maryland.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
on the first day of June, Nineteen Hundred and Sixteen.
