EMERSON C. HARRINGTON, GOVERNOR. 1351

draw to permit two vehicles to pass, and elsewhere is too nar-
row for safety; and that said bridge carries the main tracks
of said railroad and the rails, frogs and switches of the said
railroad project several inches above the flooring of said
bridge, thereby obstructing the way and making the use of the
said bridge unsafe for vehicles of. any kind; and the use of
said bridge by pedestrians and vehicles is further interrupted
and made more hazardous by the frequent passage of trains,
which occupy the whole bridge space, so that the present bridge
is utterly unsafe and unfit for travel, but nevertheless fur-

and foot passengers to the island on which Ocean City is built;

railroad trains, even if the said railroad company will con-

a proper regard for the lives and safety of the public, so that
it is imperative that the State highway reaching Ocean City
be made safe for travel and must include a bridge devoted
exclusively to the use of pedestrians and vehicles in crossing
the Sinepuxent Bay; and such a bridge is urgently needed;
