and Interest Account" in some bank located in Prince George's
County a sum sufficient to meet the payment of principal and
interest on the bonds authorized under Sections 287 and 288 of
this Article in order that the said bonds may be redeemed and
cancelled and the interest thereon paid as prescribed therein.

They shall then put aside in a general fund sufficient money
to pay the fixed charges provided under this Act, which shall
include the sum of $300 per year each to the County Commis-
sioners as compensation for their duties hereunder, a sum not
exceeding $400 per year as the salary of the Road Clerk, a sum
of $840 each per year for the salaries of the six Road Directors,
a retainer of $100 to the attorney for the County Commissioners
for legal advice in connection herewith, such other sums as may
be properly payable out of such a general fund and not charge-
able to the several road districts and election districts, including
the rebate to incorporated towns, and such sum as they may
deem advisable to be kept as an emergency fund to be used in
their judgment for emergency purposes.

They shall then divide the remainder of said money into six
equal parts each of which parts shall be thereafter devoted ex-
clusively to one of the six Road Districts and each of these parts
shall be then apportioned by them to the Election Districts or
parts of Districts in the Road District to which said part be-
longs, each Election District receiving as nearly as possible the
proportion of said money which its road mileage bears to the
total road mileage of its Road District and after such apportion-
ments are made no portion of said money shall be diverted from
the Election District to which it has been apportioned. In
case there shall not be sufficient money available in any year to
start work before the amount of the levy for such year is avail-
able, the Board of County Commissioners are hereby authorized
to use any surplus funds which they may have in and during
the months of March and April, up to the sum of $10, 000.
In case such funds are used the Board of County Commissioners
shall repay the same out of the first monies received from the
road levy of that year.

SEC. 286. The Board of County Commissioners shall have
full power at any time when in their judgment it may be neces-
sary to employ an engineer for the purpose of constructing
roads or bridges in any part of Prince George's County. They
shall have full power to purchase or hire road machinery, rollers,
carts, wagons, mules, horses, plows, scrapers, or other things'
necessary to work the roads and build bridges and culverts, and
