SECTION 1. Be, it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 279, 280, 281, 282, 284, 285 and 286 of Article
17 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Prince George's
County, " as the same were enacted by Chapter 801 of the Acts
of 1914 be and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted so
as to read as follows:
SEC. 279. There shall be in Prince George's County six Road
Directors, each of whom shall, subject to the direction of the
County Commissioners, have charge of the roads and bridges in
the road district for which he is named. Each of said Road
Directors shall superintend and look after the actual working
of the roads and the repair of bridges in his said road district,
subject to the direction of the County Commissioners. He shall
devote his whole time to his duties, shall give his personal super-
intendence to the work daily during working hours, shall take
charge of the road equipment assigned to his road district when
the same shall be in use in working the roads therein, shall em-
ploy and discharge laborers, and shall be responsible for all
machinery and equipment when the same is in his custody. He
shall keep in a book to be provided for that purpose by the Board
of County Commissioners a full, complete, accurate and easily
understood account of all money expended by him, and all
charges incurred in each of the several election districts of his
road district, which book shall be open to the inspection of any
taxpayer at any reasonable time.
SEC. 280. The Board of County Commissioners shall have
charge and custody of the road funds of Prince George's County
as hereinafter provided for, and shall meet at least twice in each
and every month for road purposes. They shall appoint a
Road Clerk who shall attend such meetings, act as Secretary,
take charge of and file any papers in connection with roads
and bridges and keep the account of the road funds of Prince
George's County in accordance with a system of accounting to
be adopted by them, which system of accounting shall show in
detail the disposition of said road fund, the amount expended
generally, the amount expended in each road district, and the
amount expended in each election district of each road district,
and the location of the place in such election district where
said work was done. Said Clerk shall prepare annually each
year a statement showing the receipts and expenditures of the
road fund, which statement shall be published in at least two
newspapers in said County in the month of December in each
and every year by the Board of County Commissioners.
