CHAPTER 56.

AN ACT to amend the Act entitled "An Act to incorporate the
Mechanics' Loan and Savings Institute, - at Hagerstown,
Maryland, " passed at the January Session, 1860, being
Chapter 93 of said Acts; and the supplements thereto
passed, respectively, at the January Session, 1902, being
Chapter 63 of said Acts; and the January Session of 1912,
being Chapter 98 of said Acts.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 1 and 2 of said original Act, being
Chapter 93 of the Acts of 1860, and the sections of the sup-
plements thereto, being Chapter 63 of the Acts of 1902, and
Chapter 98 of the Acts of 1912, wherever the same may be
applicable, be, and the same are hereby, amended so that the
corporate name of the said Mechanics' Loan and Savings In-
stitute be changed to that of Mechanics' Loan and Savings
Bank, by which name the said corporation shall have perpetual
succession, and be capable in law to hold and dispose of prop-
erty, to sue and be sued, plead and be impealed, answer and
defend, and be answered and defended, in courts of law and
equity, and in any other place; to receive and make all deeds,,
transfers, contracts, covenants, conveyances and grants whatso-
ever, to make, have and use a common seal, and the same to
change and renew at pleasure, and generally to do every act,
or thing, which the said Mechanics' Loan and Savings Insti-
tute, under said original Act and its supplements, was author-
ized to do, or which may be necessary to carry into effect the.
provisions of said Act and its supplements, or to promote the
objects and designs of said corporation; and also to own and
hold all property and assets of whatsoever kind, now owned or
held by Mechanics' Loan and Savings Institute and to conduct,
the business of said corporation in the same manner and to the
same extent that it has been heretofore conducted under the
name of Mechanics' Loan and Savings Institute.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the first day of June, 1916.
