for and during the period of his imprisonment on the public
roads of Garrett County or on the public streets of any incor-
porated town in said county provided, that during the employ-
ment of such convict on the public streets of any incorporated
town, the town authorities so employing such convict shall be
charged with the expenses which may attend such employment.

CHAPTER 566.

AN ACT to create a special taxing area or district and to be
known as Section 3 of the Village of Chevy Chase, Montgom-
ery County, Maryland, and to authorize, empower and direct
the Board of County Commissioners of Montgomery County,
Maryland, upon the request of a majority of those present at
meetings of the registered and qualified voters residing in said
area, to make special annual levies of not less than twenty
(20) cents, nor more than fifty (50) cents on each one hun-
dred (100) dollars of the assessable property of the said part
of the Village,of Chevy Chase, within certain boundaries, for
the purpose of opening, improving, repairing and lighting the
streets, roads, lanes, alleys, sidewalks, parking, drainage, sew-
erage, sanitation and other village improvements, and for fur-
nishing police protection, clerical and other public service, in-
cluding the removal of ashes, garbage and other refuse, and
the disposal thereof; for the employment of a building in-
spector to enforce the requirements of all conveyances of land
situated in said village and the promulgation of building and
other regulations; for the incorporation, election and succes-
sion of a Citizens' Committee, who shall appoint a Treasurer
to receive and disburse said funds; also directing the said
Board of County Commissioners to pay over to the Treasurer
of said village for disbursement for opening, improving, main-
taining and repairing the county roads, streets and lanes, the
money collected on account of the county road tax in the same
amount and manner as is now required by law to be paid to
incorporated towns in said county; also empowering the said
Citizens' Committee, subject to the approval of the said Board
of County Commissioners, to assess the cost of certain special
improvements against the property abutting on streets, roads,
lanes and sidewalks for certain improvements; the collection
of such assessment and disbursements thereof for the benefits
of the residents of said part of said village; also empowering
