PHILLIPS LEE GOLDSBOROUGH, GOVERNOR. 957

27, That the County Commissioners of Dorchester County,
on the first day of October in each and every year after the
passage of this Act, beginning with the year nineteen hundred
and fourteen, shall pay to the Commissioners of Vienna, to be
used and applied by the said Commissioners of Vienna for the
corporate purposes of the said town of Vienna a sum equal to
five per centum of the full amount of County taxes collected
by said County Commissioners through the County Treasurer or
Tax Collector for No. 3 or Vienna Election District, of said
County, out of the levy for the year preceding the year in
which said payments, respectively are made as aforesaid.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved April 13th, 1914.

CHAPTER 564.

AN ACT to add a new Section to Article 56 of Bagby's Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Licenses," sub-title
'' Motor Vehicles," to be known as Section 140-B, the same pro-
viding for the employment of motor-cycle officers by the Com-
missioner of Motor Vehicles for the enforcement of the motor
vehicle and traffic laws of this State.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new Section to be known as Section 140-B be added
to Article 56 of Bagby's Code of Public General Laws, title
"Licenses," sub-title "Motor Vehicles," the same to read as
follows:

140-B. It shall be the duty of the Commissioner of Motor
Vehicles to employ, with the consent and approval of the Gov-
ernor, and within the appropriation hereinafter provided for,
such number of deputies equipped with motor-cycles, as in the
opinion of the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles, may be neces-
sary to enforce the provisions of the motor vehicle and traffic
laws throughout the entire State, said Commissioner to have
authority to discharge or dismiss said deputies in his discretion,
with or without other cause than may appear to him sufficient.
And whenever it shall happen that any city, town, village or

community of citizens shall make to said Commissioner a com-
plaint in writing that said motor vehicle or traffic laws or any

of them are being habitually or generally violated in any such
