942 LAWS OF MARYLAND.
CHAPTER 556.

AN ACT to provide that for a period of ten years it shall be un-
lawful to catch, kill, take or have in possession any sturgeon
in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay and tributaries.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That for a period of ten years it shall be unlawful to
catch, kill, take or have in possession any sturgeon in the waters
of the Chesapeake Bay and tributaries.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any person or corporation
violating this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and
on conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of fifty dol-
lars for each sturgeon so caught, killed, taken or had in posses-
sion.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all Acts or parts of Acts in-
consistent with the provisions of this Act are to that extent
repealed.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

Approved April 10th, 1914.

CHAPTER 557.

AN ACT to reimburse Harry P. McCormick, of Baltimore City,
for injuries received while employed at the State Tobacco
Warehouse, in Baltimore City, and appropriating a sum of
money therefor.

WHEREAS, On or about August 12th, 1912, Harry P. Mc-
Cormick, an employee of the State, while working in said em-
ployment was seriously injured in said State Tobacco Ware-
house, in Baltimore City, as aforesaid, due to the lack of efficient
and proper help, said injury occurring by reason of the fact that
a fellow employee who was sixty-five years old and incapable
of doing arduous work withdrew his hold upon a hogshead of
tobacco, placing the entire weight of said hogshead of tobacco
upon the said Harry P. McCormick which was too great for him
and the result of the overburden brought about a hernia which
necessitated a serious operation and caused him to remain in
the hospital until September 15th, 1912; and
