those purposes; and the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore
are further authorized and empowered to pay to the National
Junior Republic the sum of $500, carried forward on the books
of the Comptroller of Baltimore City to the credit of the Na-
tional Junior Republic from the appropriation in the Ordinance
of Estimates for the year 1912 and a like sum of $500, carried
forward on the books of the Comptroller of Baltimore City from
the appropriation to the National Junior Republic in the Ordi-
nance of Estimates for the year 1913, making a total of $1,000,
the said $1,000 being carried forward to be paid to the National
Junior Republic for repairs, permanent improvements and ad-
ditions to its buildings and grounds, subject to ratification by
the Ueneral Assembly of Maryland.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 521.

AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and Council of Mount Airy, in
Carroll and Frederick Counties, to erect and operate a Water
and Electric Light and Power Plant in the Town of Mt. Airy,
for supplying water for fire protection and municipal and pri-
vate purposes and for lighting the public streets, lanes and
alleys and public buildings of said Town of Mount Airy and
furnishing light, power and heat to the citizens of said town,
and to issue bonds for the purpose of paying for such water
and electric light and power plant and the reservoir mains,
poles, wires and appurtenances connected therewith.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and Council of Mount Airy are hereby
authorized and empowered to construct, erect, own and operate
a Water and Electric Light and Power plant in the said Town
of Mount Airy for the purpose of storing and supplying water
for fire protection and municipal and private purposes and for
lighting the public streets, lanes, alleys and public and private
buildings of said Town of Mt. Airy, and for that purpose are
hereby authorized and empowered to issue bonds in the name
of said municipal corporation to an amount not exceeding twenty
thousand dollars, in denominations of one hundred dollars, five
hundred dollars and one thousand dollars, each, as said Mayor
and Council of Mt. Airy shall determine, and each of said bonds
