by the Council in the manner and form as hereinbefore pre-
scribed in this Section, and shall become effective if again passed
over the veto of the Mayor by the vote as above prescribed
for the passage over the veto of the Mayor of entire ordi-
nances or resolutions. The mode and manner of procedure of
the Council and of the Mayor in the matter of the veto of one
or more distinct items of appropriation in any ordinance or
resolution shall be the same as the mode and manner of pro-
cedure prescribed in this Section for the passage of an entire
ordinance or resolution over the veto of the Mayor.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this 'Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 55.

AN ACT providing for a State subscription to Volume 3 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland, edited by George P. Bagby, for
the distribution of the copies so subscribed for, and making
an appropriation to pay for said copies.

WHEREAS, The Legislature of 1912 legalized Volumes 1 and 2
of the Annotated Code of Maryland, edited by George P. Bagby,
and provided for a State subscription thereto; and

WHEREAS, Volume 3 of the Annotated Code of Maryland,
edited by George P. Bagby (containing Article 27 of the Code,
title "Crimes and Punishments," the Public General Acts of
1912, and the Constitution of Maryland), completes the codifi-
cation and annotation of the Public General Laws of the State,
and, together with the Public General Acts of 1914, will be pub-
lished promptly after the adjournment of the Legislature of
1914;

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the State Librarian be and she is hereby authorized
and directed to subscribe to four hundred copies of Volume 3
of the Annotated Code of Maryland for the use of the State.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That upon the delivery of said
four hundred copies of Volume 3 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland to the State Librarian, she shall certify the fact of
such delivery to the Comptroller of the Treasury, who is there-
upon authorized and directed to issue his warrant on the State
Treasurer for the sum of Four Thousand Dollars, or so much
