such special levy, to be made, and upon compliance with the fol-
lowing provision.

SEC. 283. Whenever such petition is filed, the County Com-
missioners shall give notice of the filing thereof by publication
in two newspapers published in Baltimore County for two suc-
cessive weeks, immediately following the filing of such petition,
and if a petition signed by an equal or larger number of tax-
payers, residents of said village, representing a larger amount
of taxable property than the parties petitioning be filed prior to
such levy, objecting thereto, then the said Commissioners, shall
refuse to make such additional levy.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all Acts or parts of Acts
inconsistent with this Act be and the same are hereby repealed.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 421.

AN ACT to make valid deeds, mortgages, bonds of conveyance,
bills of sale and all other conveyance of real and personal
property, or of any interest, defective in acknowledgment or
in the certificate thereof, or when the official character of the
officer taking the acknowledgment has not been certified to,
as required by the law, or when the conveyance has not been
witnessed and sealed, or any mortgage or assignment of mort-
gage defectively sworn to or not sworn to at all.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Chapter 85, of the Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland, Session 1912, entitled "An Act to make valid deeds,
mortgages, bonds of conveyance, bills of sale and all other con-
veyances of real and personal property, or of any interest, de-
fective in acknowledgment or in the certificate thereof, or
when the official character of the officer taking the acknowledg-
ment has not been certified to, as required by law, or when
the conveyance has not been witnessed and sealed," be and
the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read as
follows: All deeds, mortgages, releases, bonds of conveyance,
bills of sale, chattel mortgages and all other conveyances of real
or personal property, or of any interest therein which may have
been executed, acknowledged or recorded in the State subse-
