CHAPTER 398.
AN ACT to add three new Sections to Article 58 of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Live Stock," to be
known as Sections 41, 42 and 43, and to regulate the ship-
ment of swine into the State of Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That three new Sections to be known as Sections 41, 42 and
43 are hereby added to Article 58 of the Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws of Maryland, title "Live Stock," and to read as
SECTION 41. That all swine brought into this State for
breeding purposes or for show purposes must be accompanied
by a Health Certificate issued by a graduate Veterinarian sta-
ting that they are free from all or any infections or communi-
cative diseases, and that no such diseases have existed on the
premises from which the swine were shipped for a period of at
least thirty days prior to shipment.
SECTION 42. That said certificate must show that the swine
have been inoculated with hog cholera serum within thirty
days of the date of shipment, and all of said certificates shall
be passed upon by the State Live Stock Sanitary Board, or the
State Veterinarian, or their Associate Representative. Any
person violating the provisions of this and the preceding Sec-
tion shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction
thereof shall be fined not more than Twenty-five Dollars
($25.00) for each offense.
SECTION 43. That the two preceding Sections shall not ap-
ply to any swine shipped or driven into this State for immedi-
ate slaughter.
