446 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Mays, Arthur W. Shanklin, C. Lyon Rogers, N. Bosley Merry-
man and the personal representatives and heirs of Henry G.
Hutchins, William Parks, Henry J. Hebb, George W. Morgan,
Alfred Fowble and William B. Cochran, deceased, be and they
are hereby released of any and all claims which the State of
Maryland might otherwise have or maintain against them or
any of them for or on account of any fees or commissions col-
lected by them as Treasurers of Baltimore County and Col-
lectors of State and County Taxes since the enactment of said
Chapter 494 of the Acts of 1878.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

Approved April 10th, 1914.

CHAPTER 298.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and Aldermen of
Frederick to provide by ordinance for the proper inspection
and regulation of the keep and sale of any and all food prod-
ucts offered for sale within the corporate limits of Frederick,
or intended for consumption therein, and to prescribe fines
and penalties for violations thereof; provided, however, that
the provisions of this Act shall not apply to any food products
which have been prepared, kept, sold or distributed under
the provisions of any law heretofore or hereafter passed by
the Congress of the United States or by the State of Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and Aldermen of Frederick is hereby
authorized and empowered to provide by ordinance for the
proper inspection and regulation of the keep and sale of any
and all food products offered for sale within the corporate
limits of Frederick, or intended for consumption therein, and
to make, and from time to time, alter such regulations in re-
gard to the keep and sale of any and all food products, as it
may deem necessary and proper, to protect the public health,
and to cause any impure, adulterated, sophisticated or unwhole-
some food products of any kind offered for sale, or intended for
consumption, within the corporate limits of Frederick, to be
confiscated and destroyed, and to provide by fine of not more
than One Hundred Dollars, or imprisonment in the jail of
Frederick County for not more than ninety days, for each, of-
fense, for the punishment of violations against such regula-
