it is hereby authorized and empowered to issue its bonds to
an amount not exceeding $60,000, and sell the same, and to apply
the proceeds, and only so much as may be necessary to the
payment of water works and system installed by the City of
Cumberland under the authority of the Act of Assembly of 1910,
Chapter 478. Said bonds to be signed by the Mayor of said
City, attested by the City Clerk, with the corporate seal of said
City thereto attached; said bonds to bear interest at the rate
of not more than five per centum per annum, payable semi-
annually, for which interest proper coupons are to be attached
to said bonds; said bonds to be payable in installments of
$5,000 per year, and all redeemable at the option of said Mayor
and City Council at any time after five years from the date
of their issue; and the said Mayor and City Council shall levy
pn the taxable property of said City, each year, a sum sufficient
to pay $5,000 of said bonds and the interest, so that payment
of principal and interest of said bonds may be promptly made
when and so often as the same may become due and payable,
and said bonds shall be exempt from Municipal and County
taxes.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 169.
AN ACT to authorize and direct the State Roads Commission to
pay to David E. Walsh, of Carroll County, a part of the actual
cost of construction of the State Road leading from West-
minster to Cranberry, one and twenty-one one-hundredth
miles in length, under contract No. 0201 with said State Roads
Commission, out of the State Road Fund, distributed or to be
hereinafter distributed, to be used in Carroll County, under
the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland.

AN ACT to refund to The Emerson Hotel Company a sum of
money paid by it to Adam Deupert, Clerk of the Court of
Common Pleas of Baltimore City, for an ordinary license.
