PHILLIPS LEE GOLDSBOROUGH, GOVERNOR. 19

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 123 of Article 33 of the Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws, title "Elections, " sub-title "Miscellaneous Provis-
ions, " as enacted by Chapter 202 of the Acts of 1896 in Sec-
tion 114-B, be, and the same is hereby repealed so far as said
Section relates to Anne Arundel County and re-enacted with
amendments so as to read as follows:

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Board of Supervisors of
Election of Anne Arundel County shall annually on the first
day of Dune in each year appoint some practicing member of
the bar of Anne Arundel County to act as general counsel for
said board, and for the officers of registration and Judges of
Election, appointed by them, in all matters and proceedings
pertaining to their duties and to appear for and defend said
Board of Supervisors, officers of registration and judges of
election at the hearing of all petitions and suits which may be
filed or brought for or against them under the provisions of
Article 33 of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland,
title "Elections, " or involving their rights and duties there-
under. For his services as such general counsel he shall receive
an annual salary of four hundred dollars, to be paid in equal
quarterly installments by the County Commissioners of Anne
Arundel County, and he shall not receive any other compensa-
tion, emolument, pay, fee, appearance fee or recompense of any
kind whatsoever.

And no attorney's fee shall be taxed as a part of the costs
in any such cases. He may be removed and other counsel may
be appointed in his place for the same purposes and with the
same salary at the discretion of said board.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 18.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 10 of
Article 36 of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Fees of
Officers, " sub-title "Attorneys, " so far as said Section relates
to Anne Arundel County.
