of the peace. The Chief of Police shall give bond to the State
of Maryland, executed by a surety company, licensed to do
business in the State of Maryland, to be approved by the Mayor
in the sum of five hundred ($500) Dollars, conditioned for the
faithful performance of his duties as Chief of Police, and the
premium of said bond, if any there be, shall be paid out of the
totwn treasury. The Chief of Police shall report at all regular
meetings of the Council for the purpose of furnishing any de-
sired information concerning any of the affairs of the town
or upon matters which may be under consideration by the Mayor
and Council.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 143.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and Council of
Easton to erect, construct, equip, maintain and operate an
Electric Light and power plant for the purpose of lighting
the streets, avenues, lanes, alleys, squares and ways of Easton
and for other municipal purposes, and for supplying light,
heat and power to the citizens of Easton, and vicinity, and
to borrow on the faith and credit of the said town, thirty
thousand ($30,000) dollars, and to issue notes or bonds or
other evidences of indebtedness therefor, and to provide for
the payment of the same with interest thereon.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and Council of Easton be and they are
hereby authorized and empowered to erect, construct, equip,
maintain and operate a plant for manufacturing and supplying
electric current for lighting the streets, avenues, lanes, alleys,
squares and ways of Easton and for other municipal purposes,
and for supplying light, heat and power to the citizens of
Easton and vicinity and to fix rates and make contracts for
supplying the same.

SEC. 2. That for the purpose of paying for said plant and'
appurtenances thereto the Mayor and Council of Easton are
authorized and directed to borrow on the faith and credit of
the town of Easton not exceeding the sum of thirty thousand
($30,000) dollars and to issue coupon bonds therefor, in sums
of five hundred ($500) dollars each, to be signed by the Mayor
of Easton and countersigned by the Town Clerk thereof, at-
