sign such paper; and any wilfully false statement in such affi-
davit or affidavits or affirmation shall be deemed a misdemeanor
and shall subject the person making the same to the fines and!;
penalties prescribed by the law of this State for the crime of per-
jury.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage. *

CHAPTER 752.

AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and Council of Crisfield, in
Somerset County, Maryland, to issue additional bonds on the
credit of said municipal corporation.

SECTION 1. B e it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and Council of Crisfield, in Somerset:
County Maryland, are hereby authorized and empowered, from
time to time, to issue bonds on the faith and credit of said mu-
nicipal corporation in the sum of not exceeding ten thousand
dollars, the proceeds of the sale whereof shall be applied to the
extension of the water mains, and the rebuilding of the public
wharf in the city of Crisfield, Maryland, said bonds shall be
issued as follows: twenty bonds of the par value of five hundred
dollars each, due and payable twenty years from the date of
issue thereof; that said bonds shall bear interest at not exceeding
five per cent, per annum, payable semi-annually after the date
of said bonds, which may be evidenced by coupons to be attached
thereto; that said bonds shall be signed by the Mayor of Cris-
field, sealed with the seal of the corporation and attested by the
Clerk thereof; that the faith and assessable property of said city
of Crisfield are hereby pledged to the payment and redemption
of the principal and interest on said bonds, which bonds shall be
exempt from county and municipal taxation; that said bonds
may be registered by the clerk of the corporation and shall have
printed on them a distinct reference to this Act authorizing the
same.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect from,
the date of its passage.
