1288 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

any person whatsoever between the hours of twelve o'clock
midnight and five o'clock in the morning, and all places where
intoxicating liquors of any description are kept for sale shall be
closed between the hours of twelve o'clock midnight and five
o'clock in the morning, and shall not be opened between such
hours for any purpose whatsoever; but any such licensee may
sell all such spirituous and fermented liquors, wines, cordials,
soda and mineral waters to all other persons and at all other
times by the drink or in quantities not to exceed five gallons at
any one sale, but not otherwise; and all licenses issued under the
provisions of this Act shall be transferable, with the assent
of the Chesapeake Beach Hotel Company, as traders licenses now
are under the general laws of this State. The licensee or trans-
feree of any such license shall be held personally responsible
for any violation of the provisions of this Act concerning the
sale, barter or giving away of such liquors, wines, cordials or
beers, whether such violation result from any act of commission
or omission either by or of himself or any one in his employ or
under his control.

SECTION 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the first day of May, 1914.

CHAPTER 734.

AN ACT to refund to Etta P. Talbott, of Calvert County, Mary-
land, a sum of money paid in error to the State Treasurer.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Comptroller be and is hereby authorized and
directed to issue his warrant upon the Treasurer to pay to
Etta P. Talbott, of Calvert County, Maryland, the sum of
Three Dollars and Seventy-eight Cents ($3.78), said amount
having been paid by the said Etta P. Talbott into the County
Treasury of Calvert County as State tax on five hundred and
twenty dollars ($520) erroneously assessed against her for State
taxes for the years 1911, 1912 and 1913.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
