PHILLIPS LEE GOLDSBOROUGH, GOVERNOR. 1163

Assembly of Maryland, 1902, Chapter 259, be and the same
are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments so as to
read as follows:

SEC. 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to take or catch
or have in possession in this State any terrapin of a less size
than five inches in length on the bottom shell, and no person
shall take or catch any diamond back or salt water terrapin
between the first day of May and the first day of July in each
year. This Section to apply to "Worcester, Dorchester, Wicom-
ico and Somerset Counties; and provided that any bona fide
dealer or dealers may have terrapin in their possession during
said closed season.

SEC. 4. None but bona fide residents of this State shall take
or catch terrapin therein.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 682.

AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners of
Dorchester County to construct, own and operate a canal in
Dorchester County, connecting the headwaters of the Little
Blackwater River with the headwaters of Cambridge Creek,
and to issue bonds therefor.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Dorchester County, be
and they are hereby authorized and directed to construct, own
and operate a canal, in Dirchester County, connecting the head-
waters of the Little Blackwater River with the headwaters of
Cambridge Creek, so as to connect the navigable waters of the
Little Blackwater River with the navigable waters of the Great
Choptank River through Cambridge Creek, and to issue bonds
therefor.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That the County Commissioners of
Dorchester County shall have the power to determine the width,
which shall not exceed forty feet, the depth and the course of
the said canal, and also to contract for and acquire the right-
of way over and through the lands where the said canal may
run. if, however, the necessary land cannot be acquired by an
