1162 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

75 (17). The owner or manager of any vehicle for carrying;
passengers in the said city, provided that no proprietor of any
livery stable who pays a license to the city as proprietor thereof
shall require any other license for vehicles to carry passengers
in the city as aforesaid.

SUB-SEC. AX. No ordinance, passed by The Commissioners,
of Cambridge, shall for any one offense, impose a fine of more
than three hundred dollars, or authorize a commitment to jail
or to the Maryland House of Correction for more than three
years. When for any one fine, imposed under the provisions
of this Charter of Cambridge or under the provisions of any
ordinance of the city, any person is adjudged to stand com-
mitted until said fine and costs are paid, he shall stand com-
mitted for not less than thirty nor more than ninety days, but
after ten days' imprisonment, the party may be discharged,
under the warrant of The Commissioners of Cambridge, signed
by three of the said Commissioners, and addressed to the Sheriff
for Dorchester County. Provided, also that any prisoner who
is serving a sentence for a violation of any city ordinance may,
in the discretion of The Commissioners of Cambridge, be re-
quired to work on the streets, lanes, alleys and thoroughfares
of Cambridge, under such directions and supervision as the said
The Commissioners of Cambridge may prescribe. The Sheriff
shall not receive any fees for going in or out of any such
prisoner for work, nor shall the said Sheriff be responsible for
the custody of the said prisoner from the time that he leaves
the jail until he returns.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That this Act take effect from the
date of its passage.

CHAPTER 681.

AN ACT to repeal Sections 2 and 4 of Article 92 of the Code
of Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Terrapins—
Diamond Back and Salt Water," as enacted by the Acts
of the General Assembly of Maryland, 1902, Chapter 259,
and to re-enact the same with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 2 and 4 of Article 92 of the Code of Pub-
lic General Laws of Maryland, as enacted by the General
