1006 LAWS OF MARYLAND.
CHAPTER 602.

AN ACT to authorize the " Commissioners of Hurlock" to own
and operate a water, electric light and sewer system, to issue
bonds for the purpose of constructing a system of waterworks
and elettric lighting, or for the purchase of the water and
electric light systems at present existing in the town of Hur-
lock, and for extensions and improvements thereto, and for
the purpose of placing sewers in the streets and highways of
Hurlock; to levy and collect an additional tax for the purpose
of paying the interest and principal on said bonds, and pro-
viding for the appointment of a commission of five citizens
of Hurlock to make contracts for said work or for said prop-
erties and supervise the performance of said work or the
acquisition of said properties, and submitting the proposition
of owning, operating, building, installing and acquiring said
waterworks and electrit light systems and placing sewers in
sait streets to a vote of the qualified voters of said town.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the "Commissioners of Hurlock" be and they are
hereby authorized and empowered to own and operate for
municipal and commercial purposes, within the town of Hur-
lock, a system of waterworks, electric lighting and sewers, and
that for the purpose of constructing a system of waterworks and
an electric light system, or for the purchase or acquisition of
the water and electric light systems at present existing in the
town of Hurlock, and for extensions and improvements thereto,
and for the purpose of placing sewers in the streets and high-
ways of Hurlock, in Dorchester County, State of Maryland, and
for acquiring whatever property and for doing whatever work
is necessary thereto, the "Commissioners of Hurlock" be, and
they are hereby authorized and empowered to borrow money
on the faith and credit of the said town, not to exceed in the
aggregate the sum of forty-five thousand dollars, and to issue
bonds therefor as hereinafter directed, to be signed by the Chair-
man of the "Commissioners of Hurlock" of the said town and
countersigned by the Clerk of said Commissioners with the seal
of the "Commissioners of Hurlock" affixed thereto.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said bonds shall be
issued in denominations of five hundred dollars, with coupons
attached thereto for the payment of the interest thereon semi-
annually on the first day of January and July in each and
every year until the maturity thereof, stid coupons to have
