adjust the accounts of the State of Maryland
against Robert Thompson and Ford Combs, sure-
ties for E. T. Abell, deceased, collector of State
taxes in the second district of Saint Mary's coun-
ty, for the year eighteen hundred and fifty-two,
and to allow as credits all sums of money for
which the State's Attorney may have receipted.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That after having ad-
justed the accounts of said State of Maryland
against Robert Thompson and Ford Combs, sure-
ties of E. T. Abell, deceased, according to the
provisions of the second section of this act, the
Comptroller is hereby authorized to extend the
time of payment of the principal of the amount
which may be due the State, in instalments of one,
two, three and four years, to said sureties, upon
condition that the interest due at the date of the
passage of this act, be first paid by them : And
upon the further condition, that at the first term
of the Circuit Court for Saint Mary's county, after
the adjustment provided for by this act, they shall
confess a judgment for the principal, to be paid in
instalments as herein provided.

take effect from its passage.

AN ACT to authorize the St. Vincent's Infant
Asylum of the city of Baltimore, to bind out
and control the destitute children under their
care.

Passed March,
4, 1862.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the St. Vincent's Infant Asy-
lum of the city of Baltimore, and the officers and
board of Directors thereof, shall be entitled to re-
tain under their care, charge and restraint, the
foundlings and infant orphan children committed
to their keeping, until they shall be, if males,
twenty-one years old, if females, eighteen years
