ing to the estate of said deceased, wood and tim-
ber, to an amount in value not exceeding one

thousand dollars, for the purpose of paying off the
debts of said estate ; provided, that before pro-
ceeding to cut or sell said wood or timber, the
said administrators shall give bond to the State of
Maryland, with a surety or sureties, to be ap-
proved by the Orphans' Court for Dorchester
county, in the penalty of two thousand dollars,
conditioned for the faithful performance of the
trust reposed in them by this act, and for the
strict application of the proceeds of the sale of the
wood or timber which may be sold by them as
aforesaid, to the payment of the debts of said es-
tate, and in case the said amount of one thousand
dollars, shall be more than sufficient for the liqui-
dation of said debts, then to hold the balance
thereof for distribution among the heirs of the
said James D. Twilley, deceased, at such time and
in such manner as the Orphans' Court of Dor-
chester county may direct.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to amend an act entitled, a supplement
to an act to authorize a lottery to raise a sum of
money to make a Turnpike Road from the town
of Westminister, in Carroll county, through
Taneytown in said county, and through Emmits-
burg, in Frederick county, to the Pennsylvania
line, passed at December session eighteen hun-
dred and forty-six, chapter two hundred and
forty-two.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That if the President and Directors
of the Westminster and Taneytown Turnpike
Company shall neglect to keep said Turnpike Road
