CHAPTER 55.

 

AN ACT to repeal section eighty-nine, of Article
eleven, of the Code of Public Local Laws, re-
lating to Elections in Frederick city, and to
substitute the following in lieu thereof.

28, 1862.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary
land, That section eighty-nine, of Article eleven,
of the Code of Public Local Laws, relating to
Elections in Frederick city, be and the same is
hereby repealed, and that the following be substi-
tuted in lieu thereof :

Repealed.

SECTION 89. John Sifford, James Whitehill, and.
George Metzgar, are hereby appointed Judges, to
hold the election for Mayor and Aldermen, and
William Bentz, is hereby appointed Judge for
Ward number one ; David Frazier, Judge for
Ward number two^ Zephaniah Harrison, Judge
for Ward number three ; Lewis Medtart, Judge
for Ward number four ; John C. Hardt, Judge
for Ward number five ; David T. Bennet, Judge
for Ward number six ; and Henry Houck, Judge
for Ward number seven, in Frederick; to hold the
election for members of the Common Council for
Frederick city, at the election to be held on the
fourth Monday of February, eighteen hundred and
sixty-two ; and in the event of the death or refusal
of any one or more of said Judges to serve as
such, the Mayor of said city is hereby authorized
to fill such vacancy ; and all elections shall here-
after be held by such Judge or Judges, and in
such manner as shall be directed from time to

time by ordinance of said Corporation, not incon-
sistent with the provisions of this charter ; and
should there be hereafter, at any time, one or
more vacancies in the office of, or a failure to ap-
point any of the Judges of the election, for any
officer to be elected under this charter, the said
Mayor shall be and he is hereby authorized and
empowered, and required to fill such vacancy, or to
appoint said Judges.
