CHAPTER 285.

Passed March
10, 1862.

AN ACT to regulate School Taxes in Caroline
county, in cases where Children attend Schools
in Districts other than those in which they re-
side.

Children may
attend school
in any district

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the .General Assembly
of Maryland, That the children residing in any
one of the School Districts in Caroline county, be
and they are hereby permitted to attend the Schools

Proviso.

in any other District, provided the parent or guar-
dian of such children, shall pay to the Trustees of
the School District in which the children may at-
tend, an additional tax equal in amount to the tax
paid in the District in which they reside, if the
said additional tax is demanded by the said
Trustees.

In force.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

 

CHAPTER 286.

AN ACT to amend the charter of the Baltimore
and Harford Turnpike Company, entitled, a
further supplement to the act of eighteen hun-
dred and fifteen, chapter forty-eight, passed
December third, eighteen hundred and sixteen.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, by a certain inquisition had and held
upon the Highway of the Baltimore and Har-
ford Turnpike Company, as well as by the me-
morial of certain citizens, it doth appear that
the said Baltimore and Harford Turnpike Com-
pany, have suffered their said Highway to be
and remain in so grievously neglected a condi-
tion as to endanger the life and limb of travel-
lers, and at certain seasons become almost im-
passable to vehicles of heavy draught; and
