Sec. 17. The Clerk shall enter all ordinances
passed by the Burgess and Commissioners, and
signed by the Burgess, in a book to be kept by him
for that purpose, and they shall at all times be
open to the inspection of any person interested,
and copies of all ordinances shall be put up in the
most public places in said town.

Sec. 18. They may appoint annually a Collector
of Taxes in said town, and if any person so ap-
pointed shall refuse to act, become disqualified,
resign or remove from said town, may appoint
another in his place ; and in case of the absence or
other inability of the Collector, the Burgess may
direct any precept by him issued to any Constable
residing in said town, who shall serve and return
the same in the same manner as process issued
by a Justice of the Peace.

Sec. 19. The Collector shall give bond, with
sufficient security, to the Burgess and Commis-
sioners, for the true and faithful performance of his
duties; and such bond shall be liable as Constables
bonds are by law.

Sec. 20. He shall act as a town Constable, and
shall have power to preserve the peace and good
order of the town, and shall collect all taxes levied
by the Burgess and Commissioners, and shall have
the same power to distrain therefor as Collectors
of county taxes.

Sec. 21. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to empower the Mayor and City Coun-
cil of Baltimore, to levy and collect taxes on all
property within the corporate limits of the city
of Baltimore, which is not otherwise specially
exempted from taxation.
