AN ACT to allow William Parker, late Collec-
tor of State and county taxes, in the First Elec-
tion District of Kent county, for the years eigh-
teen hundred" and fifty-six and seven, further
time to complete his collections.

Empowered
to collect.
|
SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That William Parker, late Collector
of State and county taxes, for the years .eighteen
hundred and fifty-six and seven, for the First
Election District of Kent county, be and he is
hereby authorized and empowered to collect any
taxes or balances of taxes now remainining due
to him, and now remaining uncollected by him in
the county or district aforesaid, in the same man-
ner, and with the same power and privilege, as are
allowed by existing laws in such cases made and
provided.

Required to
make affidavit;
&c.
|
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Wil-
liam Parker shall, in every instance before he shall
proceed to the aforesaid collection, make affidavit
before some Justice of the Peace for Kent county,
that the same remains unpaid, and that he has not
received any security or satisfaction for the same,

Proviso.
|
or any part thereof, more than the credits allowed
thereon ; provided, that said affidavit shall .not be
held to be conclusive evidence of indebtedness to
said Collector, but merely prima facie evidence of
said indebtedness.

Limitation.
|
Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
not continue in force more than one year from the
date of its passage.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage.
