CHAPTER 405.

 

AN ACT to establish a uniform system of contract-

ing for printing, of all such matter pertaining
to and for the, use of the Legislature of the State
of Maryland and for Constitutional State Con-
vention.

10, 1864.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Comptroller is hereby
authorized, and required to contract, in the name
of the State, for the printing of the Journal of
Proceedings of the Senate and House of Delegates
which "may convene either at the regular sessions
or by a call of the Governor of this State for an
extra session, the laws passed at each session of
the Legislature which may hereafter convene, to-
gether with bills, rolls and documents or any other
printing matter not herein enumerated that is ne-
cessary for the use of the Legislature, and all other
such printing matter as may be ordered by the
said Legislative bodies while in actual session un-
der the provisions of the following sections of this

bill.

Sec. 2. Be it enacted,, That the Comptroller is
hereby directed and required to advertise for pro-
posals for the aforesaid printing in at least six
newspapers published in this State, two of which
shall be published in the city of Baltimore, one in
the city of Annapolis, two in the counties on the
Western Shore of this State, and one on the East-
ern Shore of said State, which advertisement shall
appear in the said newspapers one month before
the sitting of the Legislature, and shall continue
therein for two weeks.

Sec. 3. Be it enacted, That one week before the
Legislature shall convene the said Comptroller
shall enter into a written contract with the lowest
responsible bidder for the printing matter before
mentioned under their hands and seals, in the
name of the State and the party contracting to do
