which case one-half the above rate shall be
charged; provided however, that no less than one-
half cent shall be charged per horse or mule for
passing through any gate of said Baltimore and
Liberty Turnpike Company; and for every score
of cattle, sheep or hogs, or other stock, such rate
of tolls as is now allowed bylaw to be received by
the Baltimore and Reisterstown Turnpike Com-
pany; and the said company shall have the same
powers to enforce the collection of the said tolls as
are given to other turnpike companies in this
State; and when the said turnpike road, from the
city of Baltimore to Mrs. Cusack's, and from
thence to Beame's Mills, shall be completed, the
said Baltimore and Liberty Turnpike Company
shall have power at any time to increase any of
the aforesaid tolls prescribed as aforesaid; provi-
ded, that the superadded toll shall not in any case
exceed fifty per cent, of the original toll pre-
scribed as aforesaid, and the eleventh section of
the act entitled, "An act to incorporate the Bal-
timore and Liberty Turnpike Company," to which
this is a supplement, is hereby repealed.

May exchange
bed of road for
other land.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That the President and
Directors of the said Baltimore and Liberty Turn-
pike Company may also agree with the owner or
owners of any land which they may require for said
road or roads, or for sites for gate keepers' houses,
for the purchase thereof, and may exchange por-
tions of the bed of any of the public roads in this
act above authorized to be used by said company
for an equal or greater quantity of land adjacent
or near thereto when the said President and Direc-
tors shall deem that the public convenience will
be thereby promoted, and in all cases when at any
time and from time to time hereafter the said Pre-
sident and Directors shall be unable to agree with
the owner or owners of any interests in any land
which the said company or said President and Di-
rectors may require for their road or any of their
reads, as aforesaid, or for any gate-keepers' house,
or with the owner of any stone, gravel, sand, earth
or timber, which may be required for the construc-
tion or repair of their road, or where such owner
or owners, or any of them shall be feme covert,
under age, non compos mentis, or out of Baltimore
