A. W. BRADFORD, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR,
to procure a new book, well bound for that pur-
pose, and transcribe therein, in a fair, plain and
legible hand, a complete Index to the Land Re-
cords in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court
aforesaid, from the year seventeen hundred and
ninety-one to eighteen hundred and fifty, and the
said new book, when furnished and completed,
shall and is hereby declared to be substituted in
the place and stead of the old one, and the matter
and contents thereof shall be treated, considered
and held as valid and effectual, in all respects, as
were the matters and contents of the said original.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That upon
completion of said General Index as hereinbefore
provided for, and upon the approval and accep-
tance of the same by the Commissioners of said
county, they, the Commissioners, shall levy, for
the use of the said clerk, as other county charges
are now levied, such a sum of money as the said
County Commissioners may deem a just and rea-
sonable compensation, not exceeding six hundred
dollars.

AN ACT to incorporate the Gunpowder Copper
Works.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Enoch Pratt, William W.
Taylor, Galloway Cheston, Edward M. Clymer
and William Pinkney Whyte, their associates,
successors and assigns, be and they are hereby cre-
ated a body corporate by the name and style of
the "Gunpowder Copper Works," and by that
name shall have perpetual succession, and shall
be capable in law to hold and dispose of property,
real, personal or mixed, fee simple or leasehold,
