AN ACT to amend section one hundred and "forty-
three of Article twenty-one of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws, relating to offending against
the ordinances of the town of Hagerstown, in
Washington county.

Amended and
re-enacted.
|
SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That section one hundred and
forty -three of Article twenty-one of the Code of
Public Local Laws, entitled, Washington county,
be amended and re-enacted so as to read as fol-
lows:

Penalties, &c
|
143. All fines, penalties and forfeitures under
the ordinances of the corporation shall be recov-
ered before the Mayor, as small debts are recover-
able before any Justice of the Peace, or the Mayor
may, at his discretion, commit offenders , against
said ordinances to the jail of Washington county
for a period not exceeding thirty days; and the
Sheriff of said county shall receive and safe keep
all such offenders in the manner and under the
same regulations as persons committed for a vio-
lation of the laws of this State.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
