378 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

the Orphans' Court of Kent county, under oath,
that the said court may pass an order "nisi" for
the confirmation thereof, and also a final "order of
confirmation after publication as may be directed,
and shall also ascertain and fix the commissions to
said Executors, and that upon the final ratification
6f the sale or sales, the said Executors shall pay
to the Register of Wills of Kent county one-tenth-
of the commissions thus allowed, and to be paid
by the said Register of Wills to the Treasurer of
the State of Maryland; that the said Executors
shall file with the Register of Wills of Kent
county an authenticated copy of the said will and
cause the same to be recorded in his office, and
that this act shall take effect from its passage.
 

CHAPTER 282.

9, 1864.

AN ACT to add the following section to the
fourtieth Article of Public General Laws, requir-
ing jurors to take the oath of allegiance.

Jurors to take
oath,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, as follows: All Grand Jurors
shall before being empaneled on the Grand Jury,
and all Petit Jurors shall before being empaneled
on any Jury, take the following oath of allegiance,
to be administered in open court as other oaths are
administered: I do swear (or affirm) that I will
bear true allegiance to the United States and sup-
port the Constitution and laws thereof; any law or
ordinance of any State to the contrary notwith-
standing; and that I will duly execute all laws of
the State of Maryland punishing treason or other
offences against the State of Maryland, or against
the United States; and I swear this without any
mental reservation or qualification, so help me
God. The said oath shall be administered to the
Jurors at each term of the court, or at the com-
mencement of the term of service of every Juror,
