CHAPTER 278.

 

AN ACT to authorize John W. Scott, of Prince
George's county, to act in the double capacity
of Justice of the Peace and Assistant Assessor.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That John W. Scott, of Prince
George's county, be and he is hereby authorised
to act in the double capacity of Justice of the Peace
and Assistant Assessor in said county.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
CHAPTER 279.

In force.

AN ACT to compensate Thomas S. Alexander for
bis professional services in procuring an exemp-
tion of the State's revenue from liability for an
income tax of the United States.

Passed Mar.
7, 1864.

SECTION. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the sum of five hundred
dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated to
the payment of the claim of Thomas S. Alexander
for his professional services in procuring the ex-
emption of the State revenue from liability for an
income tax of the United States, and that the
Comptroller be and he is hereby authorized and
directed to draw his warrant on the Treasurer in
