LAWS OF MARYLAND.

the land, records of Montgomery county, Mary-
land; and whereas, said deed was not attested by
a commissioner as required by law, but by two Jus-
tices of the Peace of the said State of New York;
therefore,

Made valid.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the deed dated the twenty-second
day of October, eighteen hundred and fifty-seven,
from Charles H. Carroll, of New York, in his own
right and as trustee of Charles Carroll, deceased,
of. the same State, to William T. Carroll, of
Washington city, District of Columbia, recorded
in Liber J. A. S., number one hundred and sev-
enty-three, folios six and seven, one of the land
records of Washington county, District of Colum-
bia, and also in Liber J. G. H., number eight, fo-
lios seventy-eight, seventy-nine, eighty, eighty-
one and eighty-two, one of the land records of
Montgomery county, Maryland, be and the same
is hereby made as valid as if the same had been
attested as required by the laws of this State.

In force.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage.

AN ACT to incorporate the Big Vein Coal
Company.

Incorporated.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That John J. Morrison, Thomas
Devecmon and Henry G. Davis, and such other
persons as may be associated with them in the
manner hereinafter provided, shall be and they
are hereby incorporated and made a body politic,
by the name and style of the Big Vein Coal Com-
pany, and by that name shall have succession and
be able to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded
in any Court of Law and Equity, and may have
and use a common seal, and the same alter and
