CHAPTER 239.

AN ACT to refund to John S. Purnell, of Wor-
cester county, certain taxes erroneously paid by
him.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it appears by the certificate of the
Clerk to the County Commissioners for Worcester
county that John S. Purnell has erroneously paid,
on the assessment of State tax for the years eigh-
teen hundred and fifty-six, eighteen hundred and
fifty-seven, eighteen hundred and fifty-eight, eigh-
teen hundred and fifty-nine, eighteen hundred and
sixty, eighteen hundred and sixty-one, and eigh-
teen hundred and sixty-two, thirty dollars and
forty-two cents; therefore,

Authorized
to pay.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Treasurer, on the warrant
of the Comptroller, be and he is hereby authorized
to pay to John S. Purnell, or to his order, the sum
of thirty dollars and forty-two cents, being the
amount of State tax erroneously paid by him into
the Treasury.

In force.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
