AN ACT to refund to Ambrose A. White and
Francis W. Elder, parties trading in the city of
Baltimore under the name of White and Elder,
and George R. Hyland and D. C. Woods, part-
ners trading under the style of Hyland and
Woods, certain sums of money erroneously paid
into the Treasury of this State by the said par-
ties.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, Ambrose A. White and Francis W.
Elder, parties trading under the firm of White
and Elder, and George R. Hyland and D. C.
Woods, partners trading under the style of Hyland
and Woods, in the city of Baltimore, did pay to
the State of Maryland the sum of three hundred
dollars for a merchandize broker's license for the
year beginning May the first, eighteen hundred
and sixty, and ending May the first, eighteen hun-
dred and sixty-one, when the said payment and
the license aforesaid were not required by the law
of the State for the conduct of the said business of
merchandize brokers by the said White and Elder;
therefore,

Authorized
to pay.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Treasurer be and he is
hereby authorized and directed, upon the warrant
of the Comptroller, to pay to the said Ambrose A.
White and Francis W. Elder the sum of three
hundred dollars, and to George R. Hyland and
D. C. Woods, partners as Hyland and Woods, the
sum of three hundred dollars, being the amount
improperly paid by them into the State Treasury.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
