legacy, or distributes the shares of any estate lia-
ble to the tax imposed by the preceding section,
shall pay to the Register of Wills of the proper
county or city one and a half per centum of every
hundred dollars he may hold for distribution
among the distributees or legatees, and at that
rate for any less sum, for the use of the State.

Sec, 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from , the date of its passage, but shall
not be construed so as to release any tax already
fixed on any collateral inheritance, distributive
share or legacy.

the claims of Thomas H. Martin, Magruder &
Brother, Robert Jump, Erasmus West, James
Revell, Francis A. Crouch, William J. Jones,
James C. Milburn, John H. Milburn, Hayward,
Bartlet & Company, Randall & Hagner, N.
Brewer, Jr., and A. Henderson.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Comptroller be and he is
hereby directed to issue his warrant upon the
Treasurer to pay Thomas H. Martin, or order, one
hundred and twenty-five dollars for costs expended
by him as inspector of grain; to pay Magruder
& Brother, or order, four hundred and ninety-
one dollars and forty-six cents, for articles fur-
nished the State; to pay Robert J. Jump, or order ,
one hundred and forty-six dollars and thirty-two
cents, for fees due from the State; to pay Erasmus
West two dollars and twenty-five cents, for arti-
cles furnished the Legislature; to pay James Re-
veil, or order, fifty dollars for legal services ren-
dered the State; to pay Francis A. Crouch, or
order, thirty dollars and twenty-two cents, for
