structure placed in said cemetery, or burying
ground, or any fence, railing or other work for the
protection or ornament of said cemetery or bury-
ing ground, or shall wilfully destroy, cut, break,
or remove any tree, plant or shrub, within their
limits, shall be considered as guilty of a misde-
meanor, and upon conviction thereof, before any
Justice of the Peace, shall be punished by fine, in
the discretion of the Justice, according to the
aggravation of the offence, not less than five, nor
more than fifty dollars.

Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect immediately after its passage.

CHAPTER 162.

 

AN ACT to allow additional compensation to the
Sheriff o f Harford county.

Passed Feb.
18, 1864.

SECTION 1. -Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Sheriff of Harford county
shall be allowed by the County Commissioners of
said county, for boarding each prisoner confined
in jail, a sum not exceeding ten cents per day, in
addition to what he is now allowed by section one
hundred and thirty-five of article twelve of the
Code of Public Local Laws.

Compensa-

ing prisoners.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage, and shall
be and remain in force for two years.
